“Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder, with a dash of the dictionary.”
— Khalil Gibran
This week we had a very meta gathering reading poems about poetry! It was a celebration of language, and a rumination on process – its highs, lows and dangerous acrobatics. We learned that there are times that even a poem could use a drink!

A list of the poems we read
I’ve added some links where I could to the poems, poets or books if you would like to explore.
Sweater Weather – A Love Song to Language by Sharon Bryan
The Poet and His Book by Edna St. Vincent Millay
The Joy of Writing by Wislawa Szymborska
(Constantly Risking Absurdity) #15 by Lawrence Ferlinghetti
I Leave Bits of Me Everywhere by Karen Swank-Fitch
The Poem Wants a Drink by Karen Glenn
Budapest by Billy Collins

Poetry reading & writing prompt for next week
Prompt/Theme: “Haiku / Nature”
When we meet again, bring along poems inspired by the theme. There is no obligation to write, but if you feel inspired, you are welcome to bring your poem to share at the next gathering.
